Mechanical Engineer, PE

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

The company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work out of the Charlotte, NC headquarters. 

Position Summary:
This position performs mechanical design for HVAC systems and energy modeling in both new construction and renovations. Must be knowledgeable in current codes, IBC, NMC, ASHRAE, etc. and experience in Central Energy Plant systems is preferred. Experience applying the skills required for Department of Defense facilities, including demonstrating an understanding of the unique requirements of the active military, is regarded as a plus. Provide additional support to others as needed.

• Plans, designs, constructs and/or maintains mechanical systems and components
• Prepares mechanical detailing for construction drawings
• Evaluates, selects and applies standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making some substantial engineering adaptations and modifications to assigned projects
• Conducts site visits to document conditions
• Assists in the preparation of written reports
• Assists in the planning, designing, and monitoring of projects for substantial new construction, renovation and improvement projects for real property facilities encompassing highly specialized or unique requirements
• Assists in serving as a technical consultant concerning facilities planning, design, construction and/or maintenance for different categories of facilities; determine resources and perform long-range planning
• Prepares specifications or construction cost estimates
• Assists in the evaluation of contract bids, make recommendations to higher-level engineers regarding feasibility studies and assist in the management of large-scale construction projects

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Current Professional Engineering license and ability to be licensed by other states
• Minimum five (5) years design experience
• Military facilities design a plus
• Working knowledge of applicable design and building codes
• Experience administering and managing projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and mechanical engineering software
• Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Ability to have strong rapport with clients

Position: Facilities Engineering  Manager                                                      Location: VA

Position: Controls Engineer                                                                                             Location: VA

Position Provide engineering design for Client’s systems products. This includes current standard machines/systems, custom products, legacy products and sales support. This position is responsible for hardware and software design for machine and/or control systems for assigned projects. Working in conjunction with the Controls Specialist to issue, maintain, and update project related documentation. Responsibilities include assisting assembly during system build, machine/system check out, field service assistance and installation as required. In Engineering you will spend approx. 60% of your time in Electrical Machine Design which includes all power, control systems and electrical diagrams required to meet customer specifications for the project. Assemble complete and accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the Machine/System design. Design and develop Machine/System Programs in accordance with Client’s Standards. Design and develop Machine/System Operator Interface programs in accordance with Client’s Standards. 20% will be spent in installation where you will provide field service technicians remote support during system service calls, installation and commissioning. When required provide on-site troubleshooting and startup support. Provide solutions for End of Life (EOL) components within existing systems to support customer needs. Determine spare parts list for systems.
You will need to have skills in strong project management skills. Competency with Allen Bradley PLC hardware and software. Competency with Allen Bradley Operator Interface hardware and software (primarily Panel View series). Ability to understand and design electrical control schematic diagrams. Working knowledge of industrial electricity and control systems i.e. Low Voltage, 3Ø control systems, motors, servos, low voltage DC devices and sensors. Ability to specify, assist with installation, debug and start-up of electrical control and power system equipment. PLC programming skills necessary to make a machine function properly and safely. Operator interface programming skills necessary to run machine easily and without confusion. Be able to understand how a machine functions mechanically. Be able to apply electrical components in accordance with design specifications to a control system to make the machine run mechanically correct. NFPA 70, 79 as well as agency approvals to control systems.

This position will be responsible for providing engineering services to safely meet the location’s business plan by providing engineering support to production, maintenance, and administrative departments to achieve plant goals.

Coordinate all phases of assigned projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations with Procurement, related bid meetings, equipment and facilities engineering/design, manufacturing, and installation through final start-up, acceptance and project closure.

Position: Electrical Maintenance Supervisor                     Location: MA

Direct the Maintenance department to prepare and fulfill repair and construction schedules which maximize the availability of production equipment and facilities throughout the plants and office areas. Uphold all safety and housekeeping standards required for the facility. Supervise staff: train and assign employees, update the training data base; monitor performance. Review previous shift activity and maintenance issues; close out work orders and PM inspections in the system as required. Maintain a minimum safe supply of critical spare parts, directs preventive maintenance programs. Guidance of maintenance work force toward compliance with repair specifications and quality of work. At least 2 years at senior level managerial responsibility with P/L responsibility. Maintenance experience is desired (Hydraulic, mechanical or electrical). Strategic planning experience and analytical problem solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal and teambuilding skills. In depth knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing practices.
